Characteristics of the Volcano Part 2

As promised, here's the part two! Before we start, let's have some recap on the first characteristic of the volcano which is the fissure volcano. This volcano have no mountain or hill, it's just a gap on the earth's surface where you can see the lava.

Now, let's start!

The second characteristic that I'll show is very interesting. If you watch some movies like avengers, some of the characters have a shield. Today's topic is about SHIELD VOLCANO.

SHIELD VOLCANO

Here's a photo of a shield volcano. As you can see, it really looks like a shied! It's a rounded mountains and very large. When you look at it from the top, it's like a giant's shield.

Shield volcanoes are generally large, rounded mountainous volcanoes with large craters near the top of the mountain. So when you look at it from the top, it's really a giant's giant shield. Shield volcanoes have broad, sloping volcanoes erupt over and over again and build the mountain higher over centuries of long-distance eruptions. They generally do not explode violently in comparison to some other types, but often send lava flows for many miles in a slow ooze down the lengthy rounded slopes. Mauna Loa is a shield volcano on the big island of Hawaii. It is the largest active volcano on earth. It rises 30,000 feet from the ocean floor and measures more than 100 miles across its base. Kilauea, the world’s most active volcano, is located next to Mauna Loa and is also a shield variety and a popular tourist attraction.

Mauna Loa i the largest active volcano on earth. It even rises about 30,000 feet from the ocean florr! Wow, Hawaii is so lucky to have that popular tourist attraction. I would like to go there and visit Mauna Loa. Also, Kilauea because Shield volcano is amazing.

This is Mauna Loa, the largest active volcano on the earth.

Summary:

Shield volcanoes are called shield volcanoes because they look like shield. They're large, broad, round mountain. Shield volcanoes are not as violent as the other volcanoes but it usually send lava flows very slowly down to the lengthy round slopes. Mauna Loa, a shield volcano and the largest active volcano on earth. Like what I have said earlier, shield volcanoes are large. And Mauna Loa is the lucky shield volcano that have achieved this. By the way, it's found at Hawaii.

The third characteristic of the volcano is STRATOVOLCANO

On the past topic, we have discussed about the first two characteristics of the volcano. That is the Fissure and shield volcano. Let's have a short discussion about them. The fissure volcano have no mountain or hill, it's just a gap on the earth's surface where you can see the lava. The shield volcano is generally large, rounded mountainous volcanoes with large craters near the top of the mountain. These broad, sloping volcanoes erupt over and over again and build the mountain higher over centuries of long-distance eruptions. Now, let's move on to the third characteristic which is the stratovolcano.

STRATOVOLCANO

What is a stratovolcano?

  • A stratovolcano also known as a composite volcano, is among the most dangerous erupting volcanoes.

  • A stratovolcano is characterized by its triangular shape. They tend to have very steep slopes and are symmetrical. They sometimes rise up to 10,000 feet above sea level and create some of the planet’s most majestic mountains. The eruptions from this type of volcano can often be very violent, throwing rock, ash and lava high into the air.

  • In addition, the steep slopes of these volcanoes make the lava flows very fast and more difficult to escape than the slowly oozing flows of the shield variety. Mount St. Helens in Washington and Mount Fuji in Japan as well as the ancient and deadly Vesuvius were all this type.

SUMMARY:

That was fast! Anyways, a stratovolcano or can be called as composite volcano have a triangular shape and they're symmetrical and steep slopes. But it is among the most dangerous erupting volcanoes because it throw rocks, ash and lava high into the air and the lava flows very fast.

AWESOME!

Isn't awesome knowing the stratovolcano? It's really beautiful to see a triangular shape volcano and a symmetrical volcano just like Mayon Volcano which can be found on the Philippines.

These characteristics aren't complete yet. We still have part 3! Stay tune on our blog site to be updated!

I Hope you learned something new!

THANK YOU!
