Rosaly M.C. Lopes

(born 8 January 1957 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

is a planetary geologist, volcanologist, an author of numerous scientific papers and several books, as well as a proponent of education.

Her major research interests are in planetary and terrestrial surface processes with an emphasis on volcanology.

Here is one of the saying of Rosaly Lopes:

"You've got to know what you're doing around active volcanoes... I've come across people who are totally unprepared."

David A. Johnston

(December 18, 1949 – May 18, 1980)

was an American USGS volcanologist who was killed by the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens in Washington.

He was a meticulous and talented scientist, known for his analyses of volcanic gases and their relationship to eruptions.

His story became intertwined within the popular image of volcanic eruptions and their threat to society, and a part of volcanology's history.

Well, Thanks to him.. We now know how to avoid risks in volcanic eruption!

Clive Oppenheimer

is a British vulcanologist, and Professor of Vulcanology in the Department of Geography of the University of Cambridge.

He is also author who do books about volcanoes!
